Hyperdance Teacher - Bec Jones

Adelaide born dancer Bec began her training at age four at Avant Ballet studio. Completing all Cecchetti Examinations, and representing SA at various medal awards including the Lucie Saranova memorial award, Bec embarked on a career at an early point. As a youth, Bec performed with The Australian Youth Ballet Company, and began choreographing short work in Year 12. Bec's full time training began in 2007 at Adelaide College of the Arts, where she had the opportunity to work with a range of industry professionals including Jo Stone, Larissa Mcgowan, Aidan Kane Munn and Leigh Warren.
Prior to finishing her course, Bec joined Australian contemporary dance company Leigh Warren and Dancers for their European tour of Impulse – performing at the prestigious Holland Dance Festival in Den Haag. Graduating with a Bachelor Dance Performance, Bec joined the company as a fulltime member in 2009. Bec's professional repertoire includes engagements with Paris choreographer Prue Lang in Rubicon, Indigenous choreographer Frances Rings from Bangarra Dance Theatre in Womadelaide's Breathe 2010 and Leigh Warren for a number of Adelaide-based projects. Bec has been fortunate enough to perform at over 6 festivals since graduation including The Adelaide Festival, Womadelaide, The Oz Asia Festival and The Brisbane Festival. 2012 will see the company tour to the UK again to perform at The Edinburgh International Festival.
In between contracts with LWD, Bec has performed with Opera Australia in Melbourne, choreographed collaboratively and independently for Ausdance's Choreolab, and choreographs regularly on SACE yr 12 Dance at Golden Grove High. Bec enjoys working with students at any level from tertiary education lecturing at A CArts to kinder ballet on a Saturday! Teaching at a number of institutions, Bechas broadened her movement vocabulary since graduation to extend to all agegroups. With a passion for working in youth contemporary dance, Bec is excited to collaborate with new individuals and grow as an artist in SA.
